The (new) Design Brief
Welcome to the HI advisory blog!
We want sustainable mindset to become an everyday matter and in the blog we share our activities, news and inspiration to make it happen.
One of our goals is to contribute to the promotion of circular economy in Estonia, therefore we are happy to start blogging with a step in this direction.
Last week, I was in front of the circular economy support group of the Parliament of Estonia with the message that the climate crisis is a human crisis. My message was that in order to overcome the crisis, enough people must want to change their current behavior. One important circular economy strategy that is not talked about is a change in mindset. We can think that life is perfect and meaningful with less consumption. As an entrepreneur, we can look for ways to grow a business and be profitable in a sustainable, circular and resource-regenerating way. Idealistic (maybe) but possible.
Everything starts with the brief.
The (new) design brief should be: how can we redesign everyday life so that circular solutions are irresistible, accessible, intuitive and preferred.
Capabilities and opportunities to do things differently are always found when there is a motivation. We discussed on the spot what increases the entrepreneur's motivation to act sustainably. Sources of motivation that came up were: the younger generation asks and it is embarrassing if there is nothing to say; financiers, cooperation partners and export markets ask; own internal motivation not to pollute the planet.
I am very thankful for Hanah Lahe, who invited us to the meeting and is vigorously promoting the issue of circular economy in the Parliament of Estonia!
